Kenyan prankster Elvis Mushila has found himself on the receiving end of criticism after sharing an AI-generated photo appearing to show him in a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) uniform.
Mushila, popularly known for his street pranks while dressed in a wedding gown, shared the image on Instagram on Saturday, August 15, alongside a caption suggesting he had joined the military.
Kenyans react to Elvis Mushila's KDF photo
The post quickly attracted reactions from followers who initially appeared to believe that Mushila had actually completed military training. Others, however, questioned the authenticity of the image and pointed out signs that it had been generated or manipulated using artificial intelligence.
Some fans also poked fun at Mushila's seemingly ever-changing career path, given his previous association with nursing and his popularity as a prankster. One follower questioned the authenticity of the post, while another urged the content creator to stop misleading his audience.
" Acha kutudanganya," one commenter said.
Others joked about Mushila's ability to seemingly take on a different profession every time he posts a new photo. The controversy comes days after President William Ruto presided over the 46th KDF Recruits Pass-Out Parade at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School in Eldoret on August 13.
More than 5,000 recruits from Cohort 01/25 graduated after completing military training, with the recruits subsequently joining the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force and Kenya Navy. There is, however, no indication that Mushila was among those who graduated.
The viral photo appears to have been part of his online content rather than evidence that he had undergone KDF training. Mushilla has built a large following through his unusual street pranks, particularly his viral videos of chasing unsuspecting members of the public while wearing a wedding gown.
The latest post once again left his followers trying to figure out whether he was serious or simply pulling another prank.
Fans weigh in

While some fans initially reacted with excitement, others quickly scrutinised the image and pointed out odd details suggesting it was AI-generated. The discovery shifted the conversation, with several Kenyans calling out Mushila for sharing the misleading photo.

"What time were you running kwa street?"

"And where do you get time to run in the streets, Mr."
Kib Wa-g suggested Mushila had missed a trick with his outfit choice:

"Mara you are a doctor, Mara cadet mara oh who are you plz."
Meanwhile, Daniel Simba quipped:
"A class without classmates; probably botany."
Shakim Shakim Sharz kept it simple:
"Which class is this? With no people."
And Çöllõ Ñaizer admitted:
"I thought you were a doctor."
The content creator is best known for his street pranks, particularly chasing unsuspecting members of the public while dressed in his mother's old wedding gown.
