- The unexpected encounter with Rigathi's lookalike in America caught the attention of Kenyans online
Former Machachari child actor Malik Lemuel, widely known by his screen name Govi, turned heads online after posting a photo of himself alongside a man who bears a remarkable resemblance to Rigathi Gachagua, spotted not in Nairobi, but in Seattle, Washington.
Govi shared the image on his Instagram hours ago, clearly excited by the chance meeting.
In the photo, the man sports a brown cowboy hat and a plaid shirt, while Govi stands beside him in a black jacket holding a green beverage can.
The resemblance to Gachagua was enough to stop Kenyans in their tracks.
Govi's emotional US journey
The actor has been in the United States following a deeply personal trip.
In April, Govi travelled to Seattle to reunite with his father after more than two decades of separation, describing the moment as a long-awaited dream finally coming true.
He documented parts of the emotional reunion on his social media pages, giving followers a glimpse into a chapter of his life that had remained unspoken for years.
His time in America has not been without drama, however. Govi also shared a troubling account of being physically assaulted at a club in Bellevue during his stay, adding an unsettling note to what was otherwise a milestone visit.
The Gachagua lookalike spotted in Seattle quickly became a talking point among Kenyans, with many amused that the former DP's doppelgänger had apparently made it all the way to the Pacific Northwest.
Govi's rise to fame
Malik became a household name in Kenya through his role in the popular Citizen TV children's drama Machachari, which ran for several years and captured the hearts of a generation of young Kenyan viewers.
His character, Govi, was one of the show's most beloved, and the name has stuck with him long after the series ended.
