Nairobi - The Kenya Meteorological Department released its five-day weather forecast on Thursday, August 13, 2026, outlining expected conditions across multiple counties between Friday, August 14 and Tuesday, August 18.
The forecast covers a broad range of counties, including Mombasa, Kwale, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, Nakuru, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Nairobi.
What the Forecast Says
Rainfall is expected in a few counties during the period, with intermittent cool and cloudy conditions likely across parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Machakos, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, and Nakuru.
Along the Coast, Mombasa and Kwale are forecast to experience a mix of sunny intervals and light showers, with maximum temperatures ranging between 28°C and 29°C and minimum temperatures between 22°C and 24°C. Conditions will vary across morning, afternoon, and night periods throughout the five days.
Inland counties such as Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni are generally expected to see sunny intervals with partly cloudy nights and occasional light showers or rain on some days.
Rift Valley and Western Kenya Outlook
In the Rift Valley region, counties including Elgeyo/Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, and Nakuru can expect mornings dominated by sunny intervals.
Afternoons will bring a mix of sunshine and light showers in some areas, while nights will be mostly partly cloudy with isolated light showers. Temperatures in the region are expected to range between approximately 11°C and 27°C.
For western Kenya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira are also set to experience predominantly sunny intervals with partly cloudy nights, with light showers more likely towards the later part of the forecast period, particularly from Monday to Tuesday.
Nairobi, which is included in the same forecast grouping, is expected to experience similar patterns of sunny intervals and cool, cloudy spells during the five-day window.
