Francis Oduor, Engine Ikutwa and Ian Simiyu were on target as the Brewers claimed their first piece of silverware of the new campaign. Gor Mahia’s consolation goal was scored by Ikutwa in the 38th minute.
The Super Cup brought together the 2025/26 FKF Premier League champions and the 2026 FKF Cup winners, providing both sides with their final competitive test ahead of the new FKF Premier League campaign, which kicks off on the weekend of August 29.
Gor Mahia entered the contest as defending league champions after finishing last season with 69 points to secure a record-extending 22nd league title. Tusker, meanwhile, earned their place in the Super Cup after defeating Kenya Police 3-1 in the FKF Cup final.
Gor started brightly and should have taken the lead in the ninth minute when Stanley Omondi found himself one-on-one with Tusker goalkeeper Perrauld Ndinga. His header, however, was comfortably saved.
Tusker responded three minutes later when Muteheri Yakeen, operating on the left flank, unleashed a long-range effort towards Gor goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi. Defender Frank Odhiambo was alert enough to clear the danger.
The Brewers eventually broke the deadlock in the 34th minute through Francis Oduor before Gor Mahia pulled level four minutes later through Ikutwa.
Gor then came close to completing the turnaround when Dennis Omedi produced a fine individual run in the 40th minute, dribbling past Oduor and John Otieno before seeing his effort cleared inside the area.
Tusker restored their advantage before the break, leaving the Brewers 2-1 ahead at half-time.
Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor responded by making changes early in the second half, introducing Sharif Musa for Encok Machaka. He later brought on Jackson Dwang and David Okoth for Ben Stanley and Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Assifuah.
Tusker continued to threaten and should have extended their lead in the 62nd minute when Ian Simiyu found himself one-on-one with Katasi, but the Gor goalkeeper made the save.
Gor immediately launched a counter-attack through Musa, who narrowly missed the target with his effort.
Two minutes later, Tusker coach Jullien Mette made his first change, bringing on Ongou Collins for Congolese midfielder Akouala Servel Amour. Mette made another change in the 81st minute, introducing Kisakah Decemba for Alvin Mangeni.
Tusker remained the more dominant side and eventually put the result beyond doubt through Simiyu, who added the third goal to seal a 3-1 victory.
Gor had another opportunity late on, but Fabian Adikiny's long-range effort in the 83rd minute flew wide.
Beyond the result, the Super Cup offered both teams an important opportunity to assess their squads following mixed fortunes in pre-season competition.
Akonnor's Gor Mahia reached the final of the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Kigali, where they lost 2-1 after extra time to Rwanda's Rayon Sports. Tusker, meanwhile, were eliminated in the group stage of the same competition.
Gor Mahia will now turn their attention to the defence of their league title, beginning their campaign at home against Murang'a Seal. K'Ogalo will also return to continental action next month after being drawn against Egyptian heavyweights Pyramids FC in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Tusker will begin their league campaign away to Ulinzi before turning their focus to the CAF Confederation Cup. The Brewers have been drawn against Sudanese side Al Ahli Madani in the first preliminary round, with the first leg scheduled for September 4 or 6, 2026, in Nairobi.
