Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has opened applications for four positions, including its top executive role of managing director and chief executive officer, as the state-owned energy firm seeks to strengthen its leadership and operational capacity.
The recruitment drive, announced in MyGov, covers three other roles: General manager, geothermal development; manager, financial accounting and reporting; and manager, projects monitoring and evaluation. All applications close on September 8, 2026, at 5.00 p.m.
How to apply for the KenGen positions
The application process differs depending on the position.
Candidates interested in the Managing Director and CEO role must submit physical applications directly to the Chairman of the Board at the Chairman's Office, Stima Plaza, Pension Plaza II, 10th Floor, P.O. Box 47936 – 00100, Nairobi.
Those applying for the general manager, geothermal development position may submit application letters, detailed CVs, and certificates either through the KenGen careers portal or by physically delivering them to the office of the managing director and CEO at the same Stima Plaza address, with the reference number clearly marked on the envelope and letter.
Applications for the two manager positions, financial accounting and projects monitoring and evaluation, must be made exclusively through the KenGen careers portal.
What are the requirements?
Candidates who succeed in the recruitment process for the general Manager and MD roles will be required to present a set of Chapter Six clearance documents before taking up their appointments.
These include a valid certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a valid clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a valid tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a current clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and a current report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
KenGen warned that canvassing, falsification of qualifications, or misrepresentation of any kind will result in automatic disqualification. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
