Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has declared his intention to run for President in the 2032 General Election.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, August 23, Mudavadi said he will support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027 before turning his attention to his own presidential ambitions in 2032.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary also ruled out the possibility of being anyone’s running mate in 2032.
“2032, I'm not asking to be a running mate; 2032 is my interest for the Presidency.
“2027, I have made it very categorical: I am supporting William Ruto,” Mudavadi stated.

Mudavadi also said his support for President Ruto is not tied to expectations of securing a particular position in government.
“My support for him is not conditional on a position. I made a deliberate choice when I chose to support him,” Mudavadi added.
This comes a week after Mudavadi launched the Magharibi Movement to mobilize support for President William Ruto in the Western region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Mudavadi explained that the movement brings together political and community leaders from Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga and Trans Nzoia counties.
The Prime CS noted that the movement has already brought together representatives from 12 sub-counties in Kakamega County, forming the foundation of a grassroots network to support President Ruto’s re-election bid.
“I launched the Magharibi Movement, bringing together political and community leaders from Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga and Trans Nzoia to give our people a stronger platform to shape the region's future.
“The journey has begun with representatives from 12 sub-counties in Kakamega, building a grassroots network that will support H.E. President William Ruto's re-election in 2027, while pursuing an agenda that extends well beyond the ballot,” Mudavadi stated.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary mentioned that the movement’s first major priority is to urge more people in the Western region to register as voters.
“Our first mission is clear: get more people registered to vote. Political influence begins with participation, and a stronger voter base gives Western Kenya a stronger voice in determining leadership, influencing national priorities and securing its rightful place in Kenya's development,” Mudavadi added.
