Samsung Expands One UI 9 Testing to Galaxy A57 and A17 5G Amid Android 17 Developments
New leaks suggest broader public beta opportunities for mid-range Galaxy devices
Samsung is intensifying the development of its One UI 9 interface, with recent leaks indicating the inclusion of two popular mid-range models, the Galaxy A57 and A17 5G, into the Android 17 testing phase.
Renowned leaker Fahad Ali Javed has unveiled details of the first known One UI 9 firmware for both devices, hinting at Samsung's intent to broaden its public beta program beyond its flagship offerings. This development comes shortly after the emergence of the Galaxy S25 Ultra One UI 9 Beta firmware.
The leak surrounding the Galaxy A57 is particularly notable, as it reveals what appears to be the initial publicly available One UI 9 build for the device. A shared screenshot on X indicates that the firmware includes a reference to an August 5, 2026 security patch, even though Samsung has not yet rolled out its August security update.
Key metadata from the leaked firmware includes: One UI version 9.0, security patch version 2026-08-05, and upcoming firmware designation A576BXXU4BZG8. The presence of a future security patch during development may suggest that Samsung's Android 17 development is advancing more swiftly than currently anticipated.
In a surprising turn, the Galaxy A17 5G has also been reported to successfully boot the One UI 9 build. While the performance aligns with that of an entry-level device, the firmware reportedly allows for the immediate functioning of Samsung's Home Up module, which supports multi-finger customization.
Noteworthy details from the leaked screenshots of the Galaxy A17 5G include: One UI 9.0, Android 17, a July 2026 security patch, and build number CP2A.260605.016.A176BXXU6DZG4. The early stage of development for a budget device is significant, as it suggests Samsung may soon introduce public beta testing for more mid-range models.
The recent leaks bolster previous expectations that the Galaxy A series could see an expansion of the One UI 9 Beta Program. Following the successful testing strategy implemented with the Galaxy A36’s One UI 8.5 Beta, the likelihood of mid-range users being invited to participate in beta testing is increasing.
While these developments are promising, it's important to note that the appearance of internal firmware does not guarantee an immediate public rollout. Samsung still needs to finalize internal validation before launching beta programs and stable updates. Nonetheless, the swift advancement of One UI 9’s development, particularly for the Galaxy A57 and A17 5G, signals exciting prospects for Galaxy users in the near future.
