Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was received with a full guard of honour mounted by Murang'a enforcement officers during an official visit to the county government offices on Thursday, August 20.
Footage of the event, shared on X, shows uniformed officers standing in organised lines at attention as Gachagua, accompanied by Governor Irungu Kang'ata, was escorted past them through an ornamental archway gate flying the Kenyan flag.
The civilian delegation, some wearing his DCP caps, moved through the formal procession in a composed and orderly manner.
Gachagua praises Murang'a's economic development
Following the visit, Gachagua issued a statement praising the county government's economic initiatives, singling out Kang'ata's leadership as a model for grassroots development.
"County governments play a crucial role in fostering local economic development by investing in grassroots infrastructure, enhancing agricultural productivity, and streamlining trade policies to create a more conducive environment for businesses," Gachagua said.
He specifically noted Murang'a county's investment in value-added processing industries as a driver of local employment and improved resident welfare.
"Witnessing firsthand the dedication and commitment of Kang'ata to transforming Murang'a's economic landscape is truly inspiring and a testament to the impactful leadership at the county level," Gachagua added.
