Tusker FC are winners of the 2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Super Cup following an emphatic 3-1 win over giants Gor Mahia at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
Defenders Francis Oduor and Eugene Ikutwa and forward Ian Simiyu scored a goal a piece to hand the brewers their first silverware of the season. Gor’s consolation goal was an own goal by Ikutwa.
Gor and Tusker faced off in the Super Cup following their triumphs in last season’s FKF-Premier League and FKF Cup respectively.
It is the second major title that Gor have lost this month after Rwanda’s Rayon Sports defeated them 2-1 in the final of the 2026 Cecafa Kagame Cup in Kigali, Rwanda.
Aiming for a successful 2026/27 season where they will both represent the country in the CAF inter-club competitions, Gor and Tusker have bolstered their squads with several key signings.
Gor will feature in the CAF Champions League while Tusker will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the Super Cup, the new signings, whom Gor’s coach Charles Akonnor handed a starting role were goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi, defender Daniel Sakari, Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Ocran and Ugandan striker Denis Omedi.
Congolese goalkeeper Perrauld Ndinga, defender John Otieno, winger Alvin Mang’eni and Gambian striker Abdoulie Joof were the new faces, whom Tusker’s coach Julien Mette named in his starting line up.
Thousands of fans graced the match, with Gor supporters, in their usual tradition, lighting the stadium with drum beats, songs and dance.
Ndinga was called to action in the seventh minute, blocking Ben Stanley’s effort from a tight angle inside the box.
Five minutes later, Tusker threatened the other end on a counter -attack, with unmarked Yankeel Muteheli surging forward before his cross into the box was cleared for a fruitless corner-kick.
The match’s first clearest scoring chance came in the 24th minute, but Stanley skied his effort from close range after being picked out from a throw-in. Ten minutes later, Gor paid heavily for that squandered chance as Oduor fired the brewers ahead.
In the build-up to the goal, defender Servyl Akouala delivered a free-kick into the box, which was crossed to Oduor, who fired a low shot into the net. Katasi had a hand to the ball but failed to keep it out.
Just minutes later, Ikutwa doubled Tusker’s lead with a stunning strike from outside the box. Katasi failed to keep the ball out with his fingertips. Gor were handed a lifeline when Ikutwa scored in his own net in the 38th minute.
While K’Ogalo had a glorious chance to draw level just moments later, Omedi failed to tap in from close range.
At the restart, Gor made two changes with speed winger Shariff Musa and Ebenezer Assifuah coming in for Enock Machaka and Omedi respectively.
But it was Tusker who stretched their lead with Simiyu beating Katasi with a header in the 54th minute.
Despite Gor making several other changes, they were unable to turn their fortunes around.
