A new era is set to begin for Kenyans seeking Police Clearance Certificates after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced a major technology upgrade.
The DCI has unveiled plans to launch the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS)-ABIS Version 5, a new platform designed to transform the processing of Police Clearance Certificates, commonly known as Certificates of Good Conduct.
The upgraded system will officially roll out on Monday, July 20, with the agency promising faster processing times and improved service delivery.
In an announcement shared with the public, the DCI described the platform as a game-changing technological advancement that will significantly enhance the application process for thousands of Kenyans.
"Big news for Kenyans! DCI is set to revolutionise how you get your Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)," the agency said.
When will DCI roll out new police clearance certificate system?
According to the DCI, the introduction of MBIS-ABIS Version 5 is aimed at eliminating unnecessary delays while improving efficiency through advanced biometric technology.
"Starting Monday, July 20, 2026, we roll out the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS)-ABIS Version 5, a game-changing platform built to fast-track processing and deliver faster, smarter service," the statement read.
The agency assured applicants that the new system would provide a smoother and more efficient experience.
"No more long waits. Better technology. Better experience," the DCI added.
The directorate said more information about the new platform will be released during its official launch.
"Stay tuned for the official launch. More details will be shared soon," the agency said.
