2 Indians kidnapped after landing at JKIA, DCI swings into action

Two Indian nationals who were abducted shortly after landing in Kenya have been found and freed, while three Pakistani suspects believed to have held them captive are now in police custody following an intelligence-led rescue operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The victims, identified as Sandeep Sandeep and Ishwar Singh, arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on August 10, 2026, and cleared Immigration at approximately 2:50 pm.
Investigators established that the two men were received outside the terminal by two other individuals, and all four departed together in a white Nissan Note.
How Detectives Tracked the Victims
Acting on investigative leads, detectives from the Operation Support Unit (OSU) traced the vehicle to a bungalow inside Tumaini Estate in Nkoroi, Kajiado South. Upon searching the property, officers discovered the two Indian nationals in one of the bedrooms, bound at the hands and legs and visibly distressed.
Three Pakistani nationals found at the premises — Shahzad Haroon, Tariq Muhammad Muneeb, and Hassan Waqar — were arrested on the spot.
Investigators further established that the suspects had been in contact with the victims' family members in India via WhatsApp, demanding a ransom of USD 32,000 (approximately KSh 4.1 million) for the safe release of the two men.
Recovered Evidence and Ongoing Investigation
During the rescue operation, detectives recovered the victims' mobile phones, which had been concealed in a bush roughly two kilometres from the house where the men were being held.
The three suspects remain in custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court. Detectives are continuing to piece together the full circumstances of the abduction and are pursuing further leads into what is believed to be a broader kidnapping-for-ransom network.
The DCI reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of all persons within Kenya's borders, stating that it would continue pursuing individuals involved in kidnapping, ransom-related crimes, and other serious offences.
