The Public Service Commission (PSC) has opened applications for its latest intake of government interns.
PSC is inviting university graduates to apply for placement across ministries, state agencies, and public universities under the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP).
The Commission announced the recruitment of Cohort 9 under the programme for the 2026/2027 financial year, setting 17th August 2026 as the deadline for applications.
Interested candidates must submit their applications through the PSC's online job portal at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.
Who Can Apply
To qualify for the internship, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university and must have completed their studies no earlier than 2020.
Candidates are also required to demonstrate computer proficiency and must not have previously benefited from a similar government internship scheme.
The programme is designed as a youth empowerment initiative, with the primary aim of equipping recent graduates with practical, hands-on skills to strengthen their prospects for employment, professional networking, and entrepreneurship.
What Interns Can Expect
Selected interns will be placed in government ministries, departments, state agencies or corporations, and public universities for a fixed period of 12 months. The placement is non-renewable.
During their time in the programme, interns will carry out duties assigned by their supervisors, document the skills they acquire in their respective areas of deployment, and participate in mentorship activities arranged as part of the scheme.
The PSC confirmed that interns will receive a stipend at a rate determined by the government. Those who complete the programme successfully will be awarded a certificate of participation.
The Commission described itself as an equal opportunity employer, encouraging all qualified graduates to apply regardless of background.
