Kenyan influencer Prince Smile has been left in tears after his girlfriend, Winnie Kendy, turned down a kiss during their live appearance on the popular Obinna Show, with the uncomfortable moment quickly becoming a talking point online.
During the show, host Oga Obinna prompted the couple with a simple nudge:
"This is the part where you kiss."
Was Prince Smile embarrassed on Obinna show?
Winnie, however, was having none of it, refusing in front of the live audience and leaving Smile visibly uncomfortable.
Unable to shake off the embarrassment, Smile took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 18, posting a tearful, close-range selfie video filmed at home in which he processed both the incident and the online trolling that followed.
"I feel that it is so hard. Because something that I expected was to happen, I was told that I was too much," he said, his voice cracking with emotion.
He went on to say that he had not anticipated the backlash the appearance would generate, admitting the experience taught him a hard lesson about oversharing.
"I regret mbona nimeleata my love life kwa social media tena. Oh my God. I did not expect Kendi could do that on live television," he said, switching between English and Swahili as he spoke.
The influencer acknowledged he felt he had been forcing matters and that the whole situation had left him regretting his decision to make his romantic life public.
"Kila maali nakuwa trolled sasa. Sipati amani. But nimelearni lessons zangu," he added.
The clip drew sharp responses from followers, with many offering blunt takes on the situation:
