Murega Baichu dedicates song to Sifuna ahead of Linda Mwananchi Meru tour
Murega Baichu, the husband of former Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza, has released a song in support of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of the Linda Mwananchi tour of Meru.
In the Kimeru song, Baichu looks forward to Sifuna’s upcoming visit to the county while declaring his support for the senator.
He sings that “Sifuna ndio Meru na Meru ndio Sifuna,” meaning “Sifuna is Meru and Meru is Sifuna.”
He goes on to declare his intention to support the senator, singing that he would rather cast his vote for Sifuna.
“Sifuna ndio Meru na Meru ndio Sifuna, I would better cast my vote for Sifuna,” Baichu sang.
The Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) Secretary General also uses the song to welcome Sifuna to the county, saying residents had been waiting for him to arrive.
“Welcome to Meru Sifuna. For a long time we have been asking, ‘When will Sifuna come?'” he sang.
Additionally, in the viral song, Baichu then turns to Sifuna’s upcoming Meru tour, assuring listeners that the senator is indeed the person expected to visit the county.
“Here he is. Whoever is saying it is not him, it is him,” he said.
Mwangaza backs Sifuna
The song comes ahead of the Linda Mwananchi tour of Meru, where Sifuna is expected to lead the movement’s team on August 30,2026.
On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Kawira Mwangaza called on Meru residents to welcome the Linda Mwananchi team peacefully during the tour.
The UMP leader has also publicly welcomed Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi team to the county, describing Meru residents as peaceful and welcoming.
“We warmly welcome the Linda Mwananchi team led by Sifuna to Meru. With confidence, I affirm that Merians are a peaceful and welcoming people. We therefore look forward to a visit that will be peaceful, successful, and fruitful,” she said.
“We have planned property and expect an impactful visit.”
Baichu’s song comes as the political activity around the planned tour gathers momentum, with the Kimeru lyrics placing Sifuna at the centre of the political message being delivered to Meru residents.
The song therefore combines Kimeru, music and political messaging, with Baichu using it to welcome Sifuna while declaring his preference for the senator ahead of the 2027 political contest.
