What was meant to be a joyous journey to a dowry ceremony turned tragic after a matatu carrying the group was involved in a fatal accident at Kalembwani in Makueni County, leaving seven people dead and several others injured.

Five of the victims were from Nthongoni village, where families are now mourning the sudden loss of their loved ones.

The Makueni County Government has pledged to cover the victims’ medical and burial expenses, while also assisting the families with the necessary documentation should they pursue legal action against the vehicle’s owner and insurer.
