Arsenal to win?: Supercomputer predicts 2025/26 Premier League table
This story has significance for readers across Kenya and beyond.
- Around 10,000 simulations were run to forecast the 2025/26 Premier League season, factoring in transfers, form and betting odds
- Arsenal’s chances of retaining the title were established as they were pitted against other top contenders
- Three promoted sides face an anxious season at the bottom, with one club carrying the highest relegation risk by far
The 2025/26 Premier League season has kicked off, and a supercomputer has already played it out 10,000 times, and the results make for fascinating reading.
Using a combination of past form, summer transfer activity and betting odds, the model has generated a full predicted final table, and there are some bold calls across the board.
How did supercomputer predict Premier League table?
Manchester City are adapting to life without Pep Guardiola but have backed themselves in the market, including a record signing in Elliot Anderson.
Liverpool are forecast to climb from fifth to third under new manager Andoni Iraola, while Manchester United, despite a strong finish to last term under Michael Carrick, are expected to settle in fourth.
Chelsea, now guided by Xabi Alonso and strengthened by signings including Morgan Rogers, are projected to land in fifth.
Tottenham are among the biggest movers, rising sharply to sixth following a busy summer of spending.
Aston Villa slip to seventh, missing out on the Champions League places, with Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford completing the top half.
According to the simulation by Sky Sports, the Gunners are picked to defend their crown, racking up roughly 85 points, almost identical to the tally that ended their 22-year wait for the title last season.
That puts them approximately four points clear of City.
The bottom of the table looks equally telling. All three promoted clubs, Coventry, Ipswich and Hull, are tipped to head straight back to the Championship.
Of the three, Frank Lampard's Coventry give themselves the best shot at survival, sitting only just behind Nottingham Forest, who are predicted to finish 17th under new boss Oliver Glasner.
Elsewhere, Newcastle are projected to finish 13th following a summer of departures and a change in manager, while Sunderland are expected in 15th and Everton show modest improvement to 11th.
On outright title probability, Arsenal lead with a better than 50 per cent chance of winning the championship.
City are second favourites, with Liverpool and United also in the conversation but at considerably longer odds.
