Residents of Uasin Gishu County should brace for cool and partly cloudy conditions, with isolated showers and thunderstorms expected in some areas during the week.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department’s weekly forecast for the county, valid from Tuesday, August 18 to Monday, August 24, 2026, most areas will experience partly cloudy conditions during the mornings, with some places recording early morning fog.
The forecast indicates that Tuesday will start with partly cloudy conditions in several parts of the county, followed by slight rain and thunderstorms in a few areas during the afternoon and evening.
On Wednesday, similar partly cloudy conditions are expected in the morning, with slight showers and thunderstorms likely in a few places later in the day.
Thursday will begin with early morning fog in a few areas before giving way to partly cloudy conditions, while slight showers and thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas during the afternoon and evening.
The weather is expected to become relatively calmer on Friday and Saturday, with early morning fog giving way to sunny intervals in several places. Afternoon and evening conditions are expected to remain partly cloudy.
On Sunday, early morning fog will again be experienced in a few areas before sunny intervals, with slight showers and thunderstorms possible in isolated locations later in the day.
Monday is expected to begin with early morning fog followed by sunny intervals, while partly cloudy conditions will dominate the afternoon and evening.
Nighttime conditions throughout the week are expected to remain partly cloudy across several parts of the county.
Temperatures will remain relatively cool, with daytime maximum temperatures ranging between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures generally falling to about 9 degrees Celsius.
The forecast also projects winds of up to 25 kilometers per hour on Tuesday, increasing to between 34 and 36 kilometers per hour on some days later in the week.
The Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures could fall to as low as 9 degrees Celsius, particularly in southern parts of the county, and advised residents against lighting charcoal jikos in poorly ventilated rooms.
The department has also cautioned motorists and other road users to exercise care because the expected fog could reduce visibility.
Residents have further been advised to avoid sheltering under trees or remaining in open spaces during rainfall as a precaution against lightning strikes.
The forecast was issued on August 17 by Uasin Gishu County Director of Meteorological Services Kipkemei Simon Cheptot.
