The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a 60-hour suspension of its digital services this weekend, affecting motorists and transport sector stakeholders across Kenya.
The Authority confirmed in a public notice signed by the Director General that its core systems will go offline from 8:00 PM on Friday, 18 July 2026, through to 8:00 AM on Monday, 20 July 2026, to allow for scheduled preventive maintenance.
Services Affected by the Shutdown
During the maintenance window, a wide range of online services on the NTSA portal will be inaccessible. These include logbook transfers and vehicle search inquiries, driving licence issuance, motor vehicle inspection bookings, road service licence (RSL) applications and sticker processing, as well as payment of fines and other online transactions.
The Authority urged members of the public to plan their transactions in advance, completing any time-sensitive processes before the blackout begins on Friday evening.
What to Do During the Downtime
For those requiring urgent assistance over the weekend, NTSA directed the public to reach out via email at info@ntsa.go.ke. The Authority also advised stakeholders to visit their nearest NTSA offices in person, though the range of services available offline during the period was not specified in the notice.
In the advisory, NTSA acknowledged the disruption the shutdown would cause. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to offer quality services to you," the notice read.
The maintenance exercise is part of the Authority's broader efforts to strengthen the reliability and efficiency of its digital infrastructure, in line with its stated commitment to being Simple, Centric, and Reliable. It marks the first major system maintenance undertaken by the transport regulator in the second half of 2026.
