According to the incident report, the alleged abuse began in 2022 when the boy was 14 years old and in Class Eight at Kwatombe Primary School. The teacher, who was an exam invigilator, is accused of repeatedly abusing the boy since then, while threatening him with dire consequences should he report the abuse.

The teacher is also alleged to have given the boy gifts, including mobile phones and cash, and taken him on outings.

The boy later fell ill and sought treatment at Nguluni Health Centre, where medical personnel reportedly identified sexually transmitted infections.

Further inquiries are said to have linked the infections to the abuse, prompting investigations into the teacher's conduct and his subsequent arrest.

Police are investigating the matter further before the teacher is presented in court.

Matungulu OCPD Peter Gichohi confirmed the arrest, adding that several reports corroborated the conclusion of abuse by the teacher.

The boy, who is an orphan, is receiving medical attention as investigations continue.
