Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua erupted in anger at a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) rally in Nakuru after someone started a vehicle in the middle of his address.
He issued an on-the-spot threat to strip the car's owner of any chance to contest on the party's ticket.

Speaking directly to the crowd, Gachagua repeatedly demanded to know who the vehicle belonged to, growing visibly agitated as he pressed for an answer.
"You are starting a car in my rally. You will be disqualified. Who is the owner of that car? Who is the owner? Are you starting a car in my rally? You will not be given a chance to vie on the DCP ticket because that is disrespect. Who is the owner of that vehicle? Whose name is written on it?" Gachagua said.
The outburst drew significant attention online, with the clip circulating widely on social media.
Gachagua vows to press ahead toward 2027
Beyond the confrontation, Gachagua also addressed what he described as organised disruption at the rally, insisting the party's supporters had held firm.
"Nakuru county remained strong and indefatigable despite goonism ferried by cowards, but we shall beat them in this election irrespective," he said.
The former deputy president used the occasion to reiterate DCP's broader political agenda, framing the party's campaign as a mission to rescue the country from what he called a regime that has failed ordinary Kenyans.
"We thank you for remaining strong and joining the rest of Kenyans in the liberation of our country Kenya. We march for Kenya, and the finishing line is August 10, 2027. We shall not grow tired of informing our people about the challenges our country is facing and the solutions we have to offer," Gachagua said.
He added that the current administration had shown no appetite for resolving the country's problems, relying instead on deflection.
"The current regime has shown no interest in addressing these issues; their only approach is playing the blame game. Together, we will work towards making Kenya a better place to live for future generations," he said.
Gachagua has been using a series of rallies across the country to build momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election since founding DCP following his impeachment as deputy president in October 2024.
